What are my items worth?

Items being sold are evaluated based on Fair Market Value (FMV). FMV is defined as “the price at which a property would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller, neither being under any compulsion to buy or sell and both having reasonable knowledge of relevant facts”. One Day Estates appraisal team will perform the market research necessary to ensure your unwanted items sell at the highest price point possible.

As far as donated items, they are worth approximately 30% – 50% of the item’s original purchase price (some exceptions will apply – electronics, etc). In addition, you may want to refer to IRS valuation guidelines to assess the value of your donated items.

How are my donated items appraised and evaluated?

Your appraisal will be completed by an experienced, qualified appraiser from the One Day Estates team of appraisers. We carefully examine and review each of your donated items. Our appraisals conform to the most recent Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP) and the stringent requirements of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA) code of ethics and appraisal practices. Our credentials, procedures and documentation meet IRS standards.

Our professional appraisers will employ all the tools necessary to help assess an item’s value, including past sales data, item condition and history (or provenance). Most item evaluations will be based on Fair Market Value (FMV). FMV defined as “the price at which the property would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller, neither being under any compulsion to buy or to sell and both having reasonable knowledge of relevant facts”.

All donation documentation will be issued to you within 14 days of your job’s completion. Please call us at (248) 368-0868 for additional details.

How long does it take to receive my donation documentation?

It typically takes approximately 14 business days to issue your donation documentation.

Will the donation receipt list include all of the items that were donated?

Typically not, the donation receipt serves as evidence of your contribution while your appraisal report will contain an itemization of all items donated. Please call us at (248) 368-0868 for additional details.
